Poster Development

In today's studio class Hannah began developing the poster series for our Hi-five week campaign. Through various iterations they evolved into a set of 6 posters - one for each of the ways to wellbeing, with tips how to improve in that area.

At one point we thought the hi-five hand poster could have bubble wrap behind it to make it pop when hi-fived, but we soon dropped this as these would be printed out by office workers, who wouldn't feasibly be able to make this happen.

Our colour palette of white, black and orange kept things simple and striking. We chose this shade of orange as our campaign colour because it is attention grabbing yet it does not seem dangerous or like construction!

Hannah also drew some other ideas that we didn't use, such as the white hands in sleeves (some of which were buildings). We felt that these didn't fit our visual style as well as the others, and drew attention away from the Five Ways to Wellbeing.

Final Session Filming On Lambton Quay

Today we put on the 'Hi-Five' branded t-shirts that we had had screen printed and went down to Lambton Quay to do some more hi-fiving. We wanted to get lots of footage that we could use to produce our promo video and presentation. As this was our third time out on the streets hi-fiving, we were now keen, confident and had mastered the technique.

This was the first outing for our professionally printed logo on our bright coloured t-shirts, which gave us some new interesting insights while we were out.

On several occasions when we approached people for a hi-five they swiftly declined saying 'I don't have time sorry'. We thought that the only reason that someone would say they don't have time is if they mistook us for a charity or organisation asking for donations.

Another important and rewarding insight came from a lady that stopped and talked to Hannah. Quite a few people stopped and asked what we were doing which was fantastic in creating that interaction and conversation. But this lady in particular talked about how she is currently taking time off because of work place stress and she wants to focus on her health and well-being. She said that she absolutely loves our idea and the cause behind it and to keep going because she believes it will be effective amongst business people.

Overall we had a very successful day and had a blast interacting with all the people. It was really rewarding looking back at the footage after and seeing all the little smiles of people after the hi-five. Also seeing people going out of their way, taking earphones out and switching things in their hands just to hi-five us. Who would've guessed such a small action could be so impactful.

Friday Edit!

Hannah went back to Lambton with our friend, Callum, to get some footage of him hi-fiving people to add some diversity to our campaign and to also test whether a male got the same reaction from the public as us.

W10S2 Prototyping/Crit Session

Hand Installation Prototypes

One is double thickness, one is single thickness

We wanted to see whether people interacted with the above or the side hand more

Comments from our meeting with Tim about our logo/branding

We went around the north end of class and got everybody's opinions
on which slogan they liked best:

#2 --- 7 Votes
#3 --- 5 Votes
#4 --- 1 Vote
#6 --- 2 Votes

After narrowing down to two logos from feedback from half of the
floor, we went around the south end of class and got everybody's
opinions on which name and slogan they liked best:

Hi-Five --- 7 Votes
Take Five --- 7 Votes
Take Up Arms --- 2 Votes
Raise Hands --- 10 Votes

After asking our classmates we also asked Donald. He said he liked
the left one best but that it still wasn't quite right.

Interesting Campaign

I found this on Facebook the other day and thought it was a nice little example of bringing humour and fun to public transport for city people.
