Today we put on the 'Hi-Five' branded t-shirts that we had had screen printed and went down to Lambton Quay to do some more hi-fiving. We wanted to get lots of footage that we could use to produce our promo video and presentation. As this was our third time out on the streets hi-fiving, we were now keen, confident and had mastered the technique.
This was the first outing for our professionally printed logo on our bright coloured t-shirts, which gave us some new interesting insights while we were out.
On several occasions when we approached people for a hi-five they swiftly declined saying 'I don't have time sorry'. We thought that the only reason that someone would say they don't have time is if they mistook us for a charity or organisation asking for donations.
Another important and rewarding insight came from a lady that stopped and talked to Hannah. Quite a few people stopped and asked what we were doing which was fantastic in creating that interaction and conversation. But this lady in particular talked about how she is currently taking time off because of work place stress and she wants to focus on her health and well-being. She said that she absolutely loves our idea and the cause behind it and to keep going because she believes it will be effective amongst business people.
Overall we had a very successful day and had a blast interacting with all the people. It was really rewarding looking back at the footage after and seeing all the little smiles of people after the hi-five. Also seeing people going out of their way, taking earphones out and switching things in their hands just to hi-five us. Who would've guessed such a small action could be so impactful.
Friday Edit!
Hannah went back to Lambton with our friend, Callum, to get some footage of him hi-fiving people to add some diversity to our campaign and to also test whether a male got the same reaction from the public as us.
